Decided to pay this place a visit with my son, my husband and I just to find out this restaurant isn’t what it portrays to be. Upon searching up on google, it looks pretty decent. As soon as you walk in, you can see the place is run down. Walls are covered with dirt and food. The service was not great. We weren’t told to sit on our own or order at the register, not to mention there are no signs to let you know what to do, so we stood there awkwardly for a few minutes. Our waiter that served us had a bad attitude. Didn’t look pleased to be there one bit. Didn’t have any other drink options, just water. Water tasted like dirty tap water. Get up to the buffet and nothing up there looked appetizing. Most of the food was cold, or empty. My son was unable to eat considering their β€œkids chicken nuggets and fries” was gone. Nobody really even cared to fill it. The worst part that it was $46 for just my husband and I to eat lunch. My son is under 2 so we didn’t have to pay for him thank god. Seen some other reviews that people have been sick from eating here. Hoping that isn’t the case for me. This was 100% the worst restaurant I’ve ever been to in my life. Will not be back. Save your

If you are looking for authentic, incredibly tasty Indian food coupled with top-notch service, Taj Mahal is the place to be! What truly elevates the experience here, though, is the wonderful and cooperative staff. A special shoutout goes to Fatima, who is exceptionally helpful and professional in the way she attends to customers. Her warm hospitality, attention to detail, and wonderful manners make you feel right at home the moment you walk through the door. Because of Fatima's incredible service and the consistently delicious food, Taj Mahal has easily become our family’s go-to spot. All the credit for making us feel so valued goes to herβ€”we will definitely keep coming back!

I remembered Taj Mahal fondly from when I used to work in the area. I'm happy to report that it wasn't just nostalgia. The lamb samosas were perfectly spiced. The basmati was fragrant and delicious. The mattar paneer was really the best I've had, with tender paneer and a delicious sauce. I like that I can still get jeera lassi even though it is no longer in the menu. Presentation was lovely, which you can see from the photos. Service was prompt and responsive. I changed my order mid sentence and the wait staff did not miss a beat. Our water glasses were kept full throughout. The dessert we ordered for takeaway initially came out in a serving dish, and they made no fuss when we indicated we wanted it for takeout, putting it into a good travel container for us.

One of the softest lamb seekh kebabs I've had. Probably the best I have had in Pittsburgh. Definitely get this dish. I assume the lamb seekh rolls would be amazing too. I asked the kebabs to be well done and they were perfect. The chapati (whole wheat flour tortillas) seemed like they were made at home. They were so good, I got 10 chapatis for to go. I asked them to put less oil/ghee in them though. The masala tea was perfect and I had 2 of them.

Buffet had lots to pick from, including many vegetarian dishes. Tandoori chicken, soups, Chicken Tikka Masala, vegetable korma, curries, noodles, cold dishes, naan bread and desserts (the mango pudding was AMAZING, and the Chili Chicken was superb). Not the best Indian food I've had, but pretty good. Our son loved his selections--hubby wasn't overly impressed (he says my Indian cooking is better 🀭). Can't beat around $20 for an all-you-care-to-eat buffet, tho. Interior is pretty basic--dark gray/black. Bathrooms super small. Hubby had to keep going up for Pepsi refills; not once did a server ask if we needed anything (despite there being about 5 male servers available). They seemed more focused on an India vs. Pakistan cricket game on the TV... Was nice to visit at least once, but it's not worth a special trip IMO. -- Janet
